This course provides an overview of Australia’s superannuation system with focus on self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs). SMSFs are a fast growing segment of the superannuation industry. At Dec 2023, there were over 614,000 SMSFs with over 1.1 million members holding around $878 billion in assets!

Whilst ‘self-managed’ the ATO identify that most trustees can’t run their SMSF without expert advice and assistance. This course provides an overview of the knowledge necessary to understand, navigate, and advise on the specialised area of SMSFs. The content covers trustee responsibilities and legal obligations, fund taxation, and the investment strategy requirements and investment restrictions which apply to SMSFs. A comprehensive overview of the superannuation contribution rules and conditions of release important for members looking to invest in and access benefits from an SMSF is also provided.

The course contains 5 interactive learning modules and an assessment providing you with 9 CPD hours. You will have access to the course for 90 days to complete the learning and the assessment. The assessment can be attempted once all course material has been viewed. There are 30 multiple choice questions. If you fail the assessment, it can be re-attempted until the pass mark of 80% of answers correct is achieved. Throughout the course material there are ‘review’ questions to aid your learning, these are not part of the assessment but provide an indication of the type of questions you will see in the assessment quiz.

In the unlikely situation that a live education service is cancelled we will refund you the full cost of your purchase. If a live service is postponed, we will provide written notification to you and reschedule the education service. Your original ticket will be valid for the rescheduled date. We will also provide the recording and associated materials if you are unable to attend the education service live at the new date/time. If you are unable to attend the education service live at the new date/time, you may request a refund of the moneys paid by contacting Accurium directly, with all requests to be considered on a case by case basis by Accurium in its absolute discretion.
